When my family and I moved from Chicago, USA to Chiang Mai, Thailand in 2010, we found it difficult to find a home. Having just landed in a new country and culture, we spent many hot afternoons driving through neighborhoods on a rented motorbike looking for houses with rent signs, most of which we couldn’t even read! We tried calling the landlords ourselves, but the language barrier left everyone confused and frustrated.
After 6 weeks in a small hotel room, we eventually found a house, but our frustrations continued. We struggled to find furniture, house-help, gardeners, repairmen, pest control and other home maintenance necessities. Expat Homes was created to solve these problems.
After settling in Thailand and meeting many other foreigners, we have watched and heard this story again and again. For this reason, we believe the home finding and relocation process in Chiang Mai could be greatly improved. Our prior experiences coupled with our language study and market research have opened the doors to this opportunity. Expat Homes would have been valuable to us, so we know it can valuable to you.
